Rails:  First Big Quilt

My husband wanted a quilt for our king size bed.  Since rails are one of the easiest blocks to make I decided this was a good choice for a large quilt.  I always try to make more blocks for a trade than I think I will need so I can sort through them and pick the ones I feel work best. 

I was looking for blocks with consistent values (all of the lights within the same range and the medium/darks in the same range).  I was hoping to create a woven effect.  As I worked on the wall I found the blocks using tone-on-tone fabrics (those with one color) and the blocks with very little visual texture seemed to work best for what I had in mind.
