When making this quilt, I applied my “do the next right thing” rule, beginning with the center of the quilt.  I couldn’t decide on additional border fabrics until after I sewed together the center with the gold striped border.  When I put the center section on my design wall, it was much easier to audition fabrics for the next border  I made decisions as I worked outward and did what seemed right for the quilt at the time.
