Texas Two-Step: Brights for Lillian

Lynn Roddy Brown

When traveling by car I like to take breaks at quilt shops.  It is more fun to shop if I have a project in mind.  On my trip to Atlanta for the birth of my granddaughter Lillian, I decided to look for bright prints.

This quilt is an example of what I call related fabrics (bright prints) paired with a common background (black dots).   When choosing the fabrics be sure you have contrast between the background and the prints.  I had a wonderful dark blue airplane print that was lost against the black.

The blocks in this quilt have a finished size of 8".  Eight is easily divided by two.  After the blocks were sewn together I framed them with a 2" (cut 2 1/2") inner border.  This makes the pieced border of 2" squares (cut 2 1/2") fit.
